Fáilte / Welcome

Bernie Pháid's engaging presence and soulful songs captivate audiences as she effortlessly transmits a love of story and song that spans generations.

Hailing from the cultural wellsprings of the Dingle Peninsula, Ireland,, with roots firmly planted in her tradition, Bernie’s latest album, Síol, sees her reach out to explore and find her voice in the hills of Appalachia as she seamlessly weaves Traditional Irish and American folk songs. Deftly accompanied by some of the finest exponents of both traditions, Síol is a fine reflection of a strong and natural musical presence. In her wide-ranging, bilingual repertoire, Bernie manages to combine uplifting, rootsy numbers with achingly honest ballads, all the while captivating the audience with her infectious warmth.

Rugadh agus tógadh Bernie Ní Mhuircheartaigh, nó Bernie Pháid mar is fearr aithne uirthi, i gcúinne ceolmhar Chorca Dhuibhne. Spreagadh chun ceoil í ag aois óg toisc suim mhór a bheith ag a muintir i dtraidisiún na n-amhrán. B’amhránaí clúiteach sa dúiche é a hathair, Páid Pheats Phaid, agus is mó amhrán a dúirt sé féin agus Josie Pháidín, máthair Bernie, i bhfochair a chéile.

Tá dhá dlúthdhiosca eisithe go dtí seo aici - Síol (2014) agus Spideoigín (2003). Tá canta aici le mórchuid ceoltóirí clúiteacha, ina measc: Pauline Scanlon, Donogh Hennessey, Steve Cooney, Mary Black, Luka Bloom, Mama Kin, Shane Howard, Liam Ó Maonlaí agusTony Small.

 Quotes

"...From the opening tracks you know that you are about to be taken on a journey." TradConnect

“...One of the many shining lights of the Dingle Peninsula.' Fiachna O’Braonain – Late Date

"...This album has an overall mood and that emotional atmosphere is one of joy. A very gentle joy that calms ones soul and pours soothing oil on what often are the troubled waters of our lives. At the same time, this CD does not shirk the shadow side of our lives, anything but, but there’s always a message of hope…” Jackie Small

"Bernie Pháid’s music and singing is just as she is… personal, honest, endearing, deep, soulful and inspired. Síol as a collection of songs effortlessly and tastefully merges the different incarnations of Bernie’s singing, presenting the listener with a genuine glimpse of who Bernie is and what she feels about the world around her. Her fragility and delicacy are her greatest strengths, but don’t be fooled.. she’s well able to kick ass too!" Pauline Scanlon

"...It's so light and sweet. A whole bunch of my favourite songs." Tim O' Brien

“...Bernie carries a great family tradition of music, her expression of it is first class, and she is engaged in the creation of important cultural amalgamations.” Steve Cooney

"...Bernie's voice entraps and entrances the listener..." Custys Music
